Caribbean: Dominican Republic----Wrecks

The "Limon" is certainly one of the best preserved wrecks in the underwater national park of "La Caleta". The whole superstructure is still intact and divers get the impression that it went down just yesterday. Once the former tug boat was a powerful ship and today it has his resting place in 22m/80ft of water slightly bent to it's starboard side on a sand area.

The "Hickory" lays also bent to it is starboard side in approx. 18m/60ft of water in the middle of a nicely composed coral reef. The hull, especially at bow and stern, are encrusted with lots of different brain corals and sponges. Once famous as one of the most beautiful wrecks in the Caribbean it still preserved it's charm even after Hurricane "George" struck the Dominican Republic.
